## Hands, arms and joints · Dialogue 1 of 4

### Two meanings of hand

A learner asks a Japanese speaker about names for body parts.

*手というのは、うで と 手首から さきと 二つの 意味が ありますね* gives *手* two meanings: the arm and the part beyond the wrist.

The reply then names the intervening joints: *肩、ひじ、手首*, meaning shoulder, elbow, and wrist.

### Kanji: 意, 味, 肩

New kanji in these lines. Read down: the kanji, its reading, then the words it makes.
