Privacy Policy
1732 Studios, LLC (“1732 Studios,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) makes guided bilingual reading apps for iPhone and iPad and operates the website at 1732studios.com. This policy explains what we do — and, mostly, don't do — with your information.
Who we are
The data controller is 1732 Studios, LLC, a limited liability company organized in the State of Georgia, United States. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
The apps
No account, no server
You don't create an account to use our apps, and we don't operate a server that receives your data. Everything the app needs to work — the text you're reading, your place in it, your progress, your notes — is created and kept on your device.
Your voice and speech practice
Some features let you read aloud and receive pronunciation feedback. When you do this, your speech is processed entirely on your device using models bundled inside the app. The audio is used in the moment to score your pronunciation and is not recorded, retained, transmitted to us, or sent to any third party. We never receive a recording of your voice. Using these features requires your permission to access the microphone, which iOS asks for and which you can change any time in iOS Settings.
Reading progress and iCloud sync
Your reading progress and in-app state are stored locally on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for the app, iOS syncs this data through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) to your own private iCloud account so it stays consistent across your Apple devices. This data lives in your iCloud account under your control; it is not sent to 1732 Studios and we cannot read it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn iCloud sync on or off in iOS Settings, and deleting the app removes its local data from that device.
Purchases
Each app offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock the complete edition. There is no subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using your Apple ID. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card number or billing details. We only learn — via Apple's on-device StoreKit — whether your copy is unlocked. Refunds and billing questions are handled by Apple, per Apple Media Services Terms.
Diagnostics
We do not embed any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK in our apps. If you have opted in to share analytics and diagnostics with Apple in your iOS settings, Apple may share aggregated, anonymized crash and usage reports with us as the app's developer. That sharing is controlled entirely by you in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, and the reports Apple provides to us do not identify you.
The website
Hosting
Our website is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical request data (such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested) to serve the site securely and protect it from abuse. This is handled by Cloudflare as our hosting and security provider under Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Analytics
If we measure site traffic, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not collect personal data or build profiles across sites. We use it only to understand aggregate traffic (like page views), never to identify you. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site trackers.
Cookies
The website does not use tracking cookies. Your day/night reading preference is stored locally in your browser (via localStorage) so the site remembers it on your next visit; that value never leaves your browser and is not a tracking cookie.
If you email us at [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and we keep that correspondence to answer you and keep a record of the conversation.
What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We show no ads and use no advertising identifiers.
- We do not build advertising or tracking profiles about you.
Children
Our apps and website are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Because we hold almost no personal information about you — your app data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account — most requests are things you control directly: delete the app to remove its local data, manage iCloud data in your Apple ID settings, and manage purchases and refunds through Apple.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port personal information we hold about you, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. To make a request about information we hold (such as email correspondence), write to [email protected] and we'll respond as required by applicable law.
Data retention
App and reading data is retained on your device (and in your iCloud account) until you delete the app or remove it. Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to support you and meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
International users
We operate from the United States. If you use our apps or website from outside the U.S., any information we process (such as email you send us) may be processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our apps evolve or as the law requires. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, note it on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
