Evacuation and home repairs · Dialogue 2 of 3

The fire is contained

The family was windward, and the fire engine arrived quickly.

*一部を 焼いただけで 消しとめる 事が 出来ました* means "the family extinguished the fire after only a portion of the house burned."

Home during repairs

The family stayed briefly across the street, then returned home while repairs continued.

A visitor says *しゅう理 が 出来上るまで、私の 家に いらっしゃい*, "come to my house until the repair work is done."

  1. 7

Did you have time to carry your household goods out?

  2. 8

Yes, because of the facts that we were windward and that the fire engine came quickly, we were able to extinguish the fire and just a portion of the house burned.

  3. 9

And everybody in your family was evacuated without getting hurt?

  4. 10

Thank you. Only one section burned down, so we became a burden to our neighbor across the street, but we have been home since this morning.
